A comprehensive journey through more than four decades of work by the acclaimed German photographer Thomas Struth (b. 1954), this exhibition will offer examples of the different stages of his work and the social concerns that have driven the evolution of his influential art. With more than 130 works, the exhibition, first seen at the Haus der Kunst in Munich, is the most extensive showing of his artistic career to date and contains early works that have never been exhibited before. Research materials from his archive will also help to present the ideas he has been working on for the past years

Else Marie Hagen mottar Høstutstillingsprisen 2019
Verkene The average of four boys and their shadows (2018) og The opposite directions of one single girl (2018) er fotografier montert i glass.

Gertsch - Gauguin - Munch
Cut in Wood 12.05 - 22.09.2019
On the occasion of the upcoming 90th birthday of Franz Gertsch, MASI invites the artist to plan an exhibition devoted to his oeuvre. This has led to a remarkable and striking meeting between Gertsch's outstanding woodcuts and the wood engravings by two artists whom he regards as much more than simply pioneer revolutionaries of xylography, Paul Gauguin and Edvard Munch. Despite their historical distance and stylistic divergences, these three artists display profound and unexpected affinities, which extend far beyond the technique they share.

Are Blytt & Dirk Steven, "Beautiful Wreck" at MLF Marie - Laure Fleisch in Brussels
OPENING : Thursday, February 28, 6pm to 9pm
EXHIBITION : March 1 - April 13, 2019
MLF l Marie-Laure Fleisch is pleased to announce the exhibition BEAUTIFUL WRECK, a duo show with Norwegian artist Are Blytt and German artist Dirk Stewen. This is not only the first occasion the artists have had to exhibit together, but also the first time they are each showing in Brussels. Both using photographic, text-based, and abstract materials, Blytt and Stewen are keen observers of the world around them, presenting their findings to the viewer without judgement, preferring to create an opening to the world outside of the gallery. These two artists bring our attention to certain aspects of humanity, such as desires, flaws or quirks. Working primarily with paper, in the case of Dirk Stewen, or with painted canvas, in the case of Are Blytt, neither artist limits himself to traditional methods, addressing their support with a mixed media approach which creates delicate and poetic relationships and tensions between the various elements.
